Yes, please. Booking your escape room in advance is the best way to secure your session and your preferred time. All our experiences are fully private, so once you book the room, it is reserved exclusively for your group. Walk-ins are welcome, but we fill up fast, especially on weekends. Our calendar stays open well into the future, so you are welcome to reserve your escape room months before your visit. If you are planning a corporate event or a large group outing on Auckland's North Shore, early booking is especially recommended as larger teams may require multiple rooms or an entire session reserved just for you.
Yes. We understand plans change. You are welcome to cancel or reschedule your booking within our policy, provided you do so at least 24 hours before your session. Just let us know early so we can open the room for other players.
Always. Every escape room session at Escape Rooms Takapuna is 100% private. No strangers added, no shared sessions. Just your group tackling the puzzles together. Bring whomever you like. The room is all yours.
Absolutely. We love hosting groups at our Takapuna venue. Birthdays, corporate events, team-building days, family catch-ups... We have seen it all. We can organise multiple rooms and tailor the experience for your group. Get in touch and tell us what you are planning.
Allow around 1 hour and 45 minutes in total. The game itself runs for up to 90 minutes, the longest escape room experience in New Zealand — plus briefing, intro, and debriefing. Unless you escape in record time, in which case, brag away.

On Game Day

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your booking time. This gives us time to brief you, get you settled, and make sure your group is ready before the game begins. Escape Rooms Takapuna is located at 66 Anzac Street, Takapuna, Auckland 0622.
If you are running late, please let us know as soon as possible. We will do our best to help, but we may need to shorten your game to avoid delaying the teams after you. Arrive on time, and you get the full experience exactly as it should be.
Yes, as long as there is availability. Many teams love a double session at our Takapuna venue. You can pre-book two rooms back-to-back with a 30-minute gap between sessions. Just ask our staff, and we will get you set up for round two.
Your brains, your crew, a good attitude, and an open mind. No lock-picking tools. A superhero cape is entirely optional.

Game Experience

No. The door is never locked and you are never physically trapped. The challenge is about solving puzzles, cracking codes, and completing the mission. Safety always comes first, the immersion comes second.
No worries! it is all about having fun. If the clock beats you, we will come in, show you anything you missed, depending on how far you are from finishing, and celebrate the effort. But if you would rather not know what was left and want to return for another attempt, we respect that completely and will keep our mouths shut.
You are never alone. Each room has a way to communicate with the control room. If you get stuck, our game masters will give you a nudge in the right direction to keep momentum going. Our hints guide you without giving the solution away.
Completely different worlds. Every room at Escape Rooms Takapuna has its own story, puzzles, atmosphere, and surprises. You will never see the same challenge twice. Each experience is unique and handcrafted to mess with your brain in new ways. Current rooms include Da Vinci, School of Wizardry, The Games, American Diner, Time Machine, The Doll, Frankenstein's Lab, and Clue – A Murder Mystery.
Yes, each room has an average difficulty rating and age recommendation. However, this is very subjective. The same room can feel very different for first-timers versus seasoned escape room players. Our game masters are trained to understand your team's expertise before the game and can adjust the level of support they provide. Nothing in the room changes, but the way we guide you makes the experience just right for your group.

Kids & Age Requirements

Children of all ages are welcome at Escape Rooms Takapuna. All children under 14 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Children under 7 can join for free. We recommend ages 10+ for the best experience. As the parent, you know your child best, consider the room theme when booking for younger players. Please note: The Doll Room is not recommended for children aged 13 and under.

Safety, Accessibility & Comfort

Each room is themed differently. Most are adventure or mystery-based. The Doll Room has darker elements — not recommended for ages 13 and under, and parental discretion is advised for under 16s. If you are unsure about a theme, just ask our team before booking.
Participant discretion is advised for rooms with intense themes, but otherwise, all rooms are suitable for everyone. Please note that the only way to access our premises is via a staircase. If you can manage the stairs, you can play. If you have any concerns, reach out to us before your visit, and we will do our best to help.
Yes, absolutely. Our rooms are not cramped or sealed. Many players with claustrophobia do just fine. Let our staff know beforehand, and we will make sure you feel comfortable throughout. Remember: you are not physically locked in, so if you need to step out at any point, you can.
A basic understanding of English is recommended. Mixed-language groups play with us all the time, and they do great. Teamwork always wins.

Yes. We provide secure lockers for all personal items. Cell phones are not permitted inside the escape rooms, so they will be safely stored for the duration of your session.
