BOOKINGS AND RESERVATIONS
Yes — although if you are passing by, you are always welcome to pop in and see if we have a space available. To guarantee your session, head to our booking system, select the room you want to play, and choose your preferred start time. Book ahead at escaperoomsnewzealand.com/tauranga.
You can book up to 6 months in advance. If you are planning an escape room experience as a Christmas corporate event in Tauranga, locking in your date early is especially recommended — those slots go fast.
Yes. You can change or cancel a booking up to 24 hours before your scheduled time slot and receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the booked time will not be eligible for a refund.
Always. The puzzles in our rooms are challenging enough without teaming you up with strangers. Every booking at Escape Rooms Tauranga is a 100% private session — your team gets the room entirely to yourselves.
Definitely yes. Whether it is a birthday, corporate team-building event, school group, or a special celebration, we will accommodate what you need. Talk to us about your group size and we will put something together for you.
Allow around 1 hour 45 minutes for each experience. That covers your pre-game briefing, the full 90-minute game, and the debrief at the end.
On Game Day
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your start time. This gives us enough time to brief your team properly before the game begins. We are located at 75 Elizabeth Street, Tauranga — just down from the cinema, part of the Spark/Lifetime building.
That's okay, but if there is another booking after yours, we may not be able to give you the full 90 minutes. Arriving on time means the full experience — so leave a little buffer.
Yes — while your brain is firing at full speed, why not do another! Just check availability with our team and we will get you booked in for round two.
A good attitude, an open mind, and an empty bladder. Everything else is taken care of.
Game Experience
No. You will not be physically locked in. If you need to get out in an emergency, you can open the door at any time. However, if the door is opened for any other reason, your timer will stop, and the game will be over.
You will still have loads of fun trying! Not every team escapes — and that is perfectly fine. The experience is the point.
Each room has a way to communicate with the control room so you can ask for a clue. Our clues will guide you in the right direction — but they won't hand you the answer. The satisfaction of solving it yourself is all part of the fun.
Completely different. Each room at Escape Rooms Tauranga has its own unique theme, puzzles, and technology. No two rooms are alike — which is exactly why you should try them all.
Yes, each room has an average difficulty rating and age recommendation. However, this is very subjective. The same room can feel very different for first-timers versus seasoned escape room players. Our game masters are trained to understand your team's expertise before the game and can adjust the level of support they provide. Nothing in the room changes, but the way we guide you makes the experience just right for your group.
Kids & Age Requirements
Children of all ages are welcome at Escape Rooms Tauranga. All children under 14 must be accompanied by a paying adult participant. Children under 7 are free of charge. We generally would not recommend bringing children aged 6 or under to any escape room. Only you as a parent will know whether your child is likely to be affected by particular room themes — choose accordingly.
Anyone can play! There is no upper age limit. For younger players, children under 14 must be accompanied by a paying adult, and we recommend 10+ for the best experience.
Safety, Accessibility & Comfort
Each room is decorated to a particular theme, but there is no jump scaring or actors leaping out at you. The challenge is entirely puzzle-based. If you are unsure about a specific room's theme, just ask us before you book.
Yes. There is nothing in the rooms that will put you in any danger. We have a back entrance with no stairs for disabled access or prams. Please call us in advance so we can make sure everything is ready for you when you arrive.
Yes. You are not physically locked in the room, so if you really need to step out, you can. Many players with claustrophobia play and enjoy the experience with no issues. Let our team know beforehand and we will make sure you feel comfortable.
A basic understanding of English would help, as the puzzles and clues are in English. Mixed-language groups visit us regularly and do great — teamwork carries you a long way.
On-site & Practical Info
There is a large public car park right across the street from our 75 Elizabeth Street location. On-street parking is free after 5pm on weekdays, and free all weekend and on public holidays. Yes. We have secure lockers for all personal items. Cell phones are not permitted inside the rooms, so they will be safely locked away for the duration of your session.
We are at 75 Elizabeth Street, Tauranga CBD — just down from the cinema, in the Spark/Lifetime building. Easy to find, easy to park, right in the heart of Tauranga.
